P 155: The Roles of Microglia in Neurodegenerative Diseases
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Microglia is a type of glial cell located throughout the central nervous system (CNS), which is sensitive to CNS injury and disease. Responsibility of microglia as the resident macrophage cells for injuries suggests that these cells have the potential to act as diagnostic markers of disease beginning or progression. Function of Microglia is strongly synchronized by the microenvironment of brain and spinal cord, many evidences suggest that neurodegeneration and ageing, can affect microglial phenotype and function. Distinctive potassium channels responsible for sensitivity of the cells to even small modifications in extracellular potassium after even small pathological changes in CNS. Microglia cells are very plastic, and undertake a variety of structural transformations based on location and needs. There are different forms and types of microglias in CNS such as Ramified, Non-phagocytic, Phagocytic, Amoeboid, Gitter cells, Perivascular and Juxtavascular. Microglia cells have a significant role in neurodegenerative disorders, for example there are numerous over expressing InterlukinL-1 microglia in the brains of person with Alzheimer’s disease. This over expression of InterlukinL-1 leads to extreme tau phosphorylation that is associated with tangle development in Alzheimer's disease. So according to characteristics and behavior of these cells in different neurodegenerative diseases, activated microglia cells can be one of the main cellular target for therapy.

متن کاملP185: Survey Effect of Histamine on Microglia in Neurodegenerative Diseases
Neurodegenerative diseases contain Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Parkinson’s disease (PD), are characterized by neuronal death and neuronal degeneration in specific regions of the central nervous system (CNS). Microglia are the basic immune brain cells and play a role in homeostasis after inflammation challenge. Microglia involves in Neurodegenerative disease...

1.1 Neurodegeneration involve different cell types Neurodegeneration is a complex process involving different cell types and neurotransmitters. A common characteristic of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), multiple sclerosis, Huntington’s disease (HD) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is the occurrence of a neuroinflammatory reaction in...
متن کاملPharmacological Modulation of Functional Phenotypes of Microglia in Neurodegenerative Diseases
Microglia are the resident innate immune cells of the central nervous system that mediate brain homeostasis maintenance. Microglia-mediated neuroinflammation is a hallmark shared by various neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis. Numerous studies have shown microglial activation phenotypes to be heterogeneous; however, these microg...
متن کاملThe Diverse Roles of Microglia in the Neurodegenerative Aspects of Central Nervous System (CNS) Autoimmunity
Autoimmune diseases of the central nervous system (CNS) involve inflammatory components and result in neurodegenerative processes. Microglia, the resident macrophages of the CNS, are the first responders after insults to the CNS and comprise a major link between the inflammation and neurodegeneration. Here, we will focus on the roles of microglia in two autoimmune diseases: the prevalent condit...

Neurodegeneration is a progressive and irreversible loss of neuronal cells in specific regions of the brain. Alzheimer Diseases (AD) Parkinson Disease (PD) are the most common forms of neurodegenerative diseases in older people. Exosomes are extracellular nanovesicles that have a key role in physiological processes such as intercellular communication, cell migration, angiogenesis, and anti-tumo...
